OK, well ... I've worked intensely for the past couple of days on the new design for my blog, created a lovely banner using a photograph I took of a mountain sunset, and spent a lot of time on the layout, page content, colors, fonts. The resulting page was beautiful, with an intimate, cozy feel to it. Apparently a bit too cozy ... I felt like I was suffocating in it. I've been feeling depressed, and this didn't help.
So I've switched to using one of Typepad's pre-created designs, one entitled, aptly enough, "Zen Midnight". Minimalist, light, and a nature image in the banner that grounds me without being overwhelming. It's got a feeling of spaciousness, allowing me room to breathe and expand -- or not, as I wish.
(As to the expanding part, that is. I intend to keep breathing. It seems I've now made that choice.)
I don't particularly care for the plain white text background, due to my sensitive eyes, and I'd prefer to use my own unique design, but this is what feels appropriate to use for now. And now is all there is.
Glad I am you're blogging again, though sad your design didn't work out. It's often the way that stuff you work very hard on, just doesn't feel right in the end. Nevermind. Perhaps you could show a screenshot of it?
Ave and hugs.

Nick, it is so good to hear from you. The very first comment on my "new" blog, too. :D
You know, that's the key, isn't it? What we do that doesn't work out is essential in getting us to what does. Takes some letting go, though, to get there.
And as to the banner, I may upload it into a blog post and talk about it a bit.
